This paper addresses free vibration of laminated plates using finite element method with the intention of studying the
effects of certain parameters on the natural frequency. First – order shear deformation theory is employed in the
analysis. A computer program is written in matlab. The factors which were studied included lamination sequence,
material properties, aspect ratio, length/ thickness ratio, length/ width ratio, and boundary conditions. It is found that,
the length/ width ratio has the most serious effects on the natural frequency.
