The utilization technologies of citrus products and citrus wastes are considered in this project. Diversity of extraction and separation methods for bioactive compounds occurring in citrus fruits is investigated. Solvent extraction and preparative chromatography are applied to analyze the sought bioactive substances.
In the first step of separation, HPLC process was used but the results that was achieved does not agreed with the results in the literature survey. The suitable solvent for the separation between the limonin and the other materials in the bitter orange seeds are detected by TLC processes and it was found that a mixture of Methanol and Ethyl acetate with ratio 0.5:9.5 is good eluant in this process
