This project aims to evaluate the ophthalmic hospital in Nablus, which has a mixed structural system of braced (stone) frames and shear walls.

The evaluation will include static, dynamic, and soil structure interaction analysis, in 3D view, in order to approach the actual model as much as possible.

Two Methods will be used:

  1. Manual analysis: assuming 1D structural elements, using recommendations of ACI -05, as done in most engineering offices, (trying to match the reality).

  2. Program analysis: (assuming 3D views, and 1D, 2D structural elements, using structural analysis program sap 2000 v.12, more close to reality).

After the checks on the model, by manual analysis and by program, the results will be compared with the as built design details, evaluate of the as built detail will be performed, first for the gravity loads and then for both, gravity and seismic loads

Every body does projects. Building a tree house is a project; so is Putting a man on the moon.

From the simplest Home improvement to the most complex business or scientific Venture, projects are a part of most of our lives.

But exactly what is a project and what can you do to manage all its facets?

Some projects are defined by their randomness. Missed deadlines, Unpleasant surprises and unexpected problems seem to be as unavoidable as the weekly staff meeting.

Other projects have few problems. Nevertheless, the project that goes

Smoothly from beginning to end is rare. Good planning and Communication can go a long way toward avoiding disaster.

And although no amount of planning can prevent all possible Problems, good project management enables you to deal with those inevitable twists and turns in the most efficient manner Possible

In our daily life there is nothing random or come by chance, everything should be planned .By the same way engineering woks done through the projects need management.

Successful project management is the result of a structured and determined effort to develop practices and skills within an organization that has been deliberately designed to support project work and the management of that work. These practices must be developed specifically for your organization and circumstances, and must be communicated and implemented throughout the operation Project objectives get achieved because there are skilled people who can define the objectives, and can plan and direct work to satisfy the objectives.

So the most important step toward project management maturity is to set up a project management operation that can best develop and utilize skilled personnel and direct their efforts, via a set of project management practices, supported and directed by an enlightened senior management

A graduation project is covered during two consecutive semesters which is considered as one of the requirements for the Bachelor degree of Civil Engineering in the fifth year. Each student must select any subject in a civil engineering such as structure, transportation, foundation , water and environment .

This project is selected on structural engineering because it is very important part of any building construction as structural design solution requires understanding of engineering standards, inventiveness, well-trained and well-experienced engineers to undertake intangible, preliminary and detailed structural design projects in the areas of structural design and analysis.

Accurate structural designs are essential to the protection and long-standing structural reliability of complicated and simple designs in a similar way. We trust on the work of a structural engineer every time we enter a building, cross a bridge, enjoy a pleasure park ride, or run water through a powerhouse.

Nowadays, lots of outsourcing firms have completed engineering support for the design, analysis, inspection, and evaluation of structural systems. They have well experienced and expert staff in the design of structural systems including systems which utilize structural and cold formed steel, aluminum, concrete, masonry, and timber. They support all phases of the structural engineering design process, right from design and modeling to analysis of pre-existing designs and construction documentation.

This project aims to design 3D building, which is Hirbawi center near the city of Tulkarm

A tunnel is a tube hollowed through soil or bedrock. Constructing a tunnel, however, is one of the most complex challenges in the field of civil engineering. A tunnel may be for pedestrians or cyclists, for general road traffic, for motor vehicles only, for rail traffic, or for a canal. Some are aqueducts, constructed purely for carrying water for consumption, for hydroelectric purposes or as sewers while others carry other services such as telecommunications cables.

Many tunnels are considered technological masterpieces and governments have honored tunnel engineers as heroes. That’s not to say, of course, that some tunnel projects haven’t encountered major setbacks.

A tunnel is an underground passageway. The definition of what constitutes a tunnel is not universally agreed upon. They should be completely enclosed on all sides, save for the openings at each end.

This project presents design of Nablus Tunnel which connects Sufian Street with the new Commercial Complex Building of Nablus Municipality. The project includes design of excavation support system which is bored cast in-situ piles (sheet pile wall), design of retaining walls and design of mat foundation. In addition to that, this project talks about tunnels in general

The lowest part of the structure generally is referred to as the foundation; its function is to transfer the load of the structure to the soil on which it is resting. A properly designed foundation transfers the load throughout the soil without overstressing the soil, both of which cause damage to the structure. Thus, geotechnical and structural engineers who design foundations must evaluate the bearing capacity of soils.

Depending on the structure and soil encountered, various types of foundations are used and may be classified in two main groups, namely, shallow foundation and deep foundation. Shallow foundation is simply an enlargement of a load bearing wall or column that makes it possible to spread the load of the structure over larger area of the soil in soil with low load bearing capacity, the size of the foundation requires is impracticably large, in that case, it is more economical to construct the entire structure over a concrete pad, this is called a mat foundation.

Deep foundation including pile and drilled shaft foundations are used for heavier structures when great depth is required for supporting the load. Piles are structural members made of timber, concrete, or steel that transmit their load into the subsoil, piles can be divided into two basic categories: friction piles and end bearing piles. In the case of friction piles, the superstructure load is resisted by the shear stress generated along the surface of the pile. In the end – bearing pile, the load carried by the pile is transmitted as its tip to a firm stratum.

This project will present design of several foundation systems of the Faculty of Optics Building. The Optics Building has seven stories and its plan area is about 1200 m² for each story. The structural system is a typical structure of slabs, beams, columns and foundation system to carry columns’ loads. Column’s loads are found by analyzing the structure with Software called SAP 2000 ver. 12. Tributary area method is also used for analysis and comparisons were made between tributary area method and analysis using SAP 2000.
